BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING: Tuesday, November 14, 2023 @ 7:30 pm Long Valley Middle School - Performing Arts Center.
The best news of the day at FKS is that our new playground is finally open! After a brief review of the rules by Mr. Churchill, students enjoyed their first recess on the new playset today. Many thanks to the district business office for the grant that funded a majority of the project and the FKS PTA for its contribution to the funding. Thanks also to Mr. Mazuca, our district Facilities Manager, for seeing us through the hiccups along the way. We look forward to many years of FKS students enjoying this addition to our playground activities.
Our newly hatched trout were released into the big tank this morning from the basket they were in since their arrival as eggs . They are now in the 'fry' stage of their development and looking great!
Monday, November 13 is World Kindness Day. Spread kindness like wildflowers Wolves, not just today, but everyday. #MakeKindnessNormal
Veteran's Day November 11, 2023. Thank you, veterans, for your service to our nation. We are forever grateful.

We were very proud and honored this morning to host the veterans of Washington Township Post 1776 to recognize Veterans Day with a flag raising ceremony and thank them for their selfless service. They hosted a chat with our 5th graders following some refreshments, where our students learned how important veterans are to the shaping of our nation and the sacrifice they made to uphold our rights and freedoms. We look forward to hosting our local veterans again for Memorial Day.

Be sure to stop by to see how our students accomplished the challenge in many creative ways and the descriptive writing that accompanies them.
Many thanks to those of you who contributed to the excess Halloween candy collection for stateside-stationed troops. This is the combined efforts of FKS and BAC before it is taken down to OFRS. Thank you Officer Feichter for providing the delivery!
Our hard-working PTA brought award winning author Eric Luper to our preschool through second grade students today. Mr. Luper shared his journey as an author, fielded questions, signed books, and had lunch with some fortunate first and second graders. Many thanks to Mrs. Reilly and Mrs. Kazan for organizing this event.
It not may have been the biggest parade, but it sure was the cutest as our preschool Wolves held their parade and classroom activities today! They also trick-or-treated around the Kossmann building. Thank you to the preschool team, classroom parents, and the parents who attended the parade today. Happy Halloween!
More FKS Halloween pictures of staff fun!
The pavilion is finally complete with the addition of three picnic tables that can fit a classroom of students. Many thanks to our PTA for the tables and the Business Office for their work getting the concrete surface installed. We are grateful for all of your efforts.
Halloween 2023 at FKS! We had a great time parading the grounds in our costumes this afternoon. Many thanks to our office and custodial staffs, Mrs. Fessenden for the music, homeroom parents, our teachers and staff, and of course our families for making it the safe and enjoyable event it was. Happy Halloween!
This week, our Wolves participated in community building through personal wellness activities led by Sue Murphy.
The trout eggs arrived today from the Pequest Hatchery, delivered by Trout Unlimited, a national organization that brings trout eggs to schools for the Trout in the Classroom (TIC) project. TIC is a NJDEP Fish and Wildlife program that teaches the importance of cold water conservation. The delivery gentlemen and their precious cargo were received to cheers and song. Many thanks to the 5th grade team and TIC advisors Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Rooney. Students later looked at the unviable eggs with the microscope. We look forward to helping our trout grow strong for their release in May.
Last week, Mrs. Sokol , our School Counselor, led our Wolves at Kossmann in an assembly talking with students about how to earn Pawbucks, how to pay them forward to our two charities, and what we are looking for in our Wolf Leaders. The Flocktown assembly will take place this week.
The FKS PTA Fun Run 2023 was a complete success! Many thanks to the PTA Fun Run Committee and volunteers for making it happen. We also thank all of the donors who supported their efforts and our school.
The section we were waiting on arrived the middle of last week. It was constructed on Thursday and Friday. We are getting closer!
