Multilingual Bingo Night

End of the year activity

Building Community, embracing multilingual learners while bringing languages and cultures to life in Washington Township.

Join us for our end-of-the-year celebration with a multilingual Bingo Night on Thursday, May 8th from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm.

English as a Second Language

Washington Township Schools delivers an English as a Second Language program at each of the four district schools. The team of certified ESL teachers facilitates learning for our English learners through effective, research-based practices. They are dedicated to helping students to develop their language skills for both social and academic settings. The teachers collaborate to deliver the English language learning curriculum while weaving in the content area curricula so each student can grow both in general knowledge and skills along with proficiency in the English language. They work closely with all professionals who have a stake in each  ESL student’s education through a combination of small-group as well as co-teaching models of instruction. We believe in building on the funds of knowledge each student brings with them to our school, capitalizing on the richness of existing language to build new language, and inviting and welcoming all children to our community of learners.

Parental Involvement

The ESL team would like to invite parents of English Learner students to join the parent information and input meetings that will be held this year. There is no formal membership for the committee but all parents are welcome to attend, give their ideas, and learn about our program. Please look for communications inviting you to participate in one or more of the meetings this year. Parents are welcome to contact their child’s ESL teacher at any time to ask for more information, share ideas, and ask questions.

Our first open house for parents will be held on TBA. All parents of English Learners are welcome to attend.
