The Department of Curriculum and Instruction provides leadership and services that facilitate continual improvement in the quality of our district programs in order to best meet the instructional needs of all students. District curricula are in alignment with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards, 21st Century Learning Standards, and the Next Generation Science Standards
Mrs. Russo’s passion for curriculum design, instructional practice, and leadership have developed during her personal education journey of over 25 years. Mrs. Russo has earned two M.A. degrees; one in Educational Leadership in 2017 from Centenary University and another in Curriculum and Instruction in 2010 from the University of Phoenix; in addition her BA in Elementary Education was attained in 1992 from King’s College and earned an additional 30 graduate level credits focused in reading and instructional practice from Marywood College and East Stroudsburg University. During Mrs. Russo’s twenty-five years of educator experience, including administrative experience as Washington Township Schools’ English/Language Arts Coordinator, she has served Washington Township Schools since 1997. She began her tenure as a LVMS ELA and Reading teacher, then a Flocktown-Kossmann School fourth grade teacher and reading interventionist. Later, Mrs. Russo was appointed the district’s first Literacy Coach paving the way for instructional coaching in the district. Prior to her years with WTSchools, Mrs. Russo taught middle school English Language Arts at Hampton Borough School in Hunterdon County and grade six at Paterson School #12 in Paterson, NJ. Mrs. Russo’s educational philosophy stems from her steadfast belief that all children have the ability to succeed and achieve greatness. In her free time, she enjoys reading, shopping, dining, and spending time with her husband, Robert, her two daughters, Regina and Kelly, and her Basset Hound, Cosmo.
