Final Update: October 30

After a comprehensive search process and County approval of an employment contract, the Washington Township Board of Education is pleased to announce that we will appoint our next Superintendent of Schools, Ms. Antonella Lind, in public session at our Board of Education meeting this evening at 7 pm in the Long Valley Middle School Performing Arts Center. 

Ms. Lind joins the Washington Township School District with over 18 years experience as an educator and educational leader.  In addition to nine years as a special education teacher, she held a multitude of school administrator positions in the North Haledon Public School District in Passaic County, including Principal of the High Mountain Middle School, which was recognized by US News and World Reports as a Top Middle School under her leadership; Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment; Director of Special Education; Director of Student Services; and Acting Superintendent.  Antonella has established herself as an educational leader who orchestrates and strengthens comprehensive educational initiatives, while fostering inclusive learning environments that are supportive for staff, students, and families alike.

Ms. Lind received her Bachelor's degrees in Special Education and History from Felician University. She has earned Master's degrees in Early Childhood Special Education (Montclair State) and Educational Leadership (Felician University). Additionally, Antonella completed a Post-Master’s Superintendent Program from Caldwell University.

Antonella and her husband John have been married for 16 years and are the proud parents of three beautiful children.   The Lind family is a strong and supportive unit which loves Antonella's cooking, and traveling together with extended family when they can. They are excited for Antonella to begin her service as Washington Township's newest Superintendent, and to join the beautiful and proud community of Long Valley!

Update: October 21 -- Finalist Selected

After a final round of interviews, The Washington Township Board of Education has unanimously identified an outstanding finalist in our Superintendent Search. 

The Board is conducting a robust reference check, and is concurrently in negotiations on an employment contract.  We intend to release news on our finalist after the contract has been approved by the Morris County Executive Superintendent, and to appoint our next Superintendent of Schools at a public meeting of the Board, in public session, on Wednesday, October 30 at 7pm.

Prior to the meeting, we intend to post an introductory bio of our incoming Superintendent on this page.

Update: October 9:   Final Round Candidates

Having conducted second-round interviews with four impressive Superintendent candidates on October 1st and 2nd, the WTS BOE will be meeting with three finalists for a third and final interview round on the evening of October 17, in Executive Session.  We look forward to providing further updates to the community shortly afterwards.  

The outcomes of the input sessions and input surveys have guided the Board throughout the selection process, and the Board has been and continues to work diligently to identify an exceptional superintendent who will be proud to lead our schools and our learning community.

Update: September 23: Second Round Candidates

The Washington Township Board of Education met with six highly qualified candidates for a first round of Superintendent interviews on the evenings of September 18 and 19.  From those candidates, the Board has selected four candidates to advance to second-round interviews, which will be held in Executive Session on the evenings of October 1 and 2nd. 

The input we received from our stakeholders continues to be vital in the Board's decision making. We are looking forward to providing updates as we move forward in our search for an exceptional educational leader for our students and community.

Update: September 19: First-Round Candidates

The Washington Township Board of Education met on Saturday, September 7 with our Search Consultant to review fully the application materials submitted by all of the candidates for Superintendent. 

Using the outcomes from the input survey and input sessions conducted with our stakeholders, the Board unanimously selected six talented and accomplished candidates for first-round interviews who meet the desired criteria for our next educational leader.  We intend to conduct first interviews in closed session on Wednesday, September 18 and Thursday, September 19.   

We appreciate your continued support during the search process, and we look forward to posting future updates on our progress as they occur.  

Update: July 15, 2024: Candidates

As of the close of the application window on July 5, twenty-eight qualified candidates have applied for the position:  10 current Superintendents, 4 Assistant Superintendents, 3 Directors of Special Services, 6 Principals, 2 Assistant Principals, and three  candidates who currently occupy different professional positions in public education.    Twelve candidates have earned doctorates.

The Washington Township BOE will convene in executive session during its meeting on Saturday, September 7, to examine each of the candidates' qualifications and to determine which candidates will be selected for first-round interviews.   The Board's Search Consultant will be conducting preliminary interviews with each applicant before presenting the candidates to the Board for review.   Using the information gained from the online input surveys and input sessions, the Washington Township Board of Education will make all decisions on which candidates to invite for all three rounds of interviews, which will take place during the fall.

Update: June 27, 2024: WTS Stakeholder Survey

Online surveys have closed.   Thanks to all who participated!   

Survey and input session outcomes will assist the Board of Education in vetting optimal Superintendent candidates, and in formulating interview questions to be used throughout the interview process.  The survey results will not be shared with the public during the duration of the search.  By this method, we will ensure an authentic assessment of each candidate's strengths, and potential fit for our District.
