Welcome to the 2024-2025 School Year!
Welcome Back, Panthers!
We hope you’ve had a wonderful summer spending time with family and friends, relaxing in preparation for the new school year. In the meantime, we’ve been planning for what promises to be an amazing school year, and we’re putting the finishing touches on those plans right now!
Our first day of school is Thursday, August 29th. We are excited to meet our incoming 6th graders, welcome back our returning students, and share all the opportunities that await them! Earlier today, the OnCourse Connect Portal was open to students and families. In OnCourse, when you log in, there will be some important information that you must review and “accept” prior to accessing your Portal. Once completed, you will be able to access your students' homeroom teacher for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
In order to help you prepare for our first day of school, we highly recommend that you visit our LVMS Back to School Website that is found on the main toolbar of the LVMS Website. In addition to summer learning opportunities and the suggested school supply list, you will be able to find our 2024-25 LVMS Team List. This will indicate the team that you have been assigned to and which core academic teachers that you will have throughout the school year.
On the first day of school, all of our LVMS teachers will be ready to welcome you and to help you to kick off the school year on the right foot. Your homeroom teachers will provide your full schedule and answer any questions you may have. There will be an extended homeroom to give you time to learn all about your full schedule, get time to open your locker, and get yourself grounded before you start your new schedule and meet all of your new teachers.
Until the first day of school, we hope you’ll plan to attend our 6th Grade Student Orientation on Tuesday, August 20th and stop by for our Summer Walkthrough events which are scheduled for Wednesday, August 21st and Friday, August 23rd from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM.
We wish you the best as you finish up your summer. You can continue to sleep in for a bit longer, but soon you’ll be boarding your buses and heading off for a great school year!
See you all soon!
Sincerely,
Mark Ippolito & Michael Mirabella
LVMS Principal & Assistant Principal
LVMS Start-Up Items & Info
LVMS Mathematics Program & Placements:
On August 16th, all students were mailed information with their math program placement via USPS. That document thoroughly explains the placement process using multiple data points to identify the appropriate math class for the 2024-25 School Year.
School Supplies:
For our 2024 School Supply Lists please visit the main page of the LVMS Website and click “Back to School Fall 2024”. The School Supply list contains recommended / suggested items for all LVMS students. Teachers will share class specific material requests with students upon the start of classes (these requests will be minimal). Therefore, it may be best to wait to buy supplies once classes begin. All students should plan to come to school on the first day with their charged Chromebook in its case (new students will be issued Chromebooks in the first week of school). If any additional supplies are needed, teachers will let students know when they meet with them, allowing ample time for parents to help acquire those supplies.
LVMS Communications:
Please take a moment to update your OnCourse Contact information. It is important that this information is accurate (cell numbers, emergency contacts, & email addresses) so you are receiving notifications accordingly. At the same time, please be sure you are accessing the LVMS Live Feed and News from the district’s mobile App. This year we will continue to engage our families through the Monday Minute. The Monday Minute is a great place to check for all LVMS updates and happenings at LVMS. This will continue to be posted to the LVMS Website, WTSchools mobile app, and emailed directly to parents and students weekly.
Attendance Procedures (PickUp Patrol):
The Long Valley Middle School will continue utilizing "Pickup Patrol” to assist with our student attendance & reporting safety mechanisms. PickUp Patrol is an app-based platform that will allow LVMS parents to submit requests for ‘early dismissal,’ enter information about a child’s absences, and submit information about late arrivals, etc. More information will be provided in the upcoming days, but we highly suggest logging into your account and reviewing your students' pick up plans (login credentials are the same as the 2022-23 school year). All LVMS Parents/Guardians will be required to enter attendance information exclusively on PickUp Patrol. We DO NOT accept hand-signed parent notes or phone calls to report student schedule changes. Please CLICK HERE to access PickUp Patrol.
LVMS Student Drop-Off/PickUp:
It is preferred that LVMS students ride buses to/from school since our parking lot is not structured for parent drop-off or pick-up; our buses are the easiest way to ensure timely arrival and dismissal. Of course, we know this is occasionally necessary and information specific to those procedures will be coming to parents soon. Students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:30am unless they are participating in a club/program meeting before school begins - the club/program advisor will arrange to meet the students at our main entry on club days and provide supervision before the school day begins. Additionally, Period 1 begins promptly at 8:50am. Please CLICK HERE for additional information!
We Are PANTHERS:
In the upcoming weeks we will meet with all of our students to reiterate our 2024-25 expectations, and begin to share more information with the school community about We Are PANTHERS!
