About Mr. Craver

Michael Craver began his tenure in the Washington Township Schools in the fall of 2009 as the Assistant Principal at LVMS, before becoming the Principal at Flocktown-Kossmann for the 2010-11 school year.  

Mr. Craver has a Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration from Montclair State University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Political Science holding certifications for Elementary School Teacher K-8, Social Studies 5-8, Supervision, School Principal, and School Administrator. 

Mr. Craver previously worked as an elementary school principal, K-2 assistant principal, and K-8 curriculum coordinator. He spent 10 years in the classroom primarily as a 4th and 5th grade teacher in the Westfield Schools for 9 years, where he was twice nominated for Teacher of the Year. Throughout his teaching career he served on several ELA and math curriculum writing committees, and stakeholder committees in the areas of Gifted and Talented education, school culture and climate, and character education. 

Thanks to the faculty and staff at Flocktown-Kossmann, Mr. Craver was recognized as a Friend of Public Education in 2016 by the Morris County Council of Education Association.  Mr. Craver also served a term on the Board of Education in Mendham Borough as chair of the Curriculum and Policy committees. 

Mr. Craver  was born and raised in Saratoga County, New York and currently resides in Mendham Borough with his wife Marcella - a middle school guidance counselor and school psychologist. His two daughters Allegra and Michaella recently graduated from Syracuse University and James Madison University respectively. Mr. Craver enjoys outdoor activities with his family biking, hiking, kayaking, traveling, attending Broadway shows, following Syracuse basketball, golfing with his college roommates and brothers, and reading with Jack the Cat in his lap.

About Mr. Winsted

John Winsted began his tenure in the Washington Township Schools in August of 2007.  He has filled the roles of Classroom and Literacy Teacher, District Supervisor, and Assistant Principal in the Washington Township School District.

Mr. Winsted has four Master’s Degrees in Educational Administration, Special Education of Gifted and Talented, Reading Instruction, and Diverse Learners from Centenary College, the University of Northern Colorado, and the University of Phoenix and is ABD from Grand Canyon University. He holds certifications in teaching, educational leadership, and was a National Board Certified Teacher for 20 years.  

Mr. Winsted previously worked as a teacher in the Adams 12 Five Star Schools in Colorado, serving as the gifted and talented coordinator at each of his schools and served on the district literacy leadership team. Through his teaching career, he has provided literacy interventions and services to gifted learners in each district he worked in, beginning in Wyoming. He has also been a college instructor at the University of Northern Colorado and at the University of Phoenix at the graduate level. 

Mr. Winsted was trained as a Conflict Resolution Mediator, trained in the Comprehensive Early Literacy Learning schoolwide program as a literacy coach, and the DISCOVER assessment to find underserved populations for gifted education. He was part of the Flocktown-Kossman team that won the 2013 CCAC New Jersey Creativity Leadership Grant Program. 

Mr. Winsted was born and raised in Wyoming and currently resides in Lake Hopatcong with his wife, Dr. Doris Cappiello, VMD. Mr. Winsted enjoys birding, ecotravel, and his church.
