Achievement of 2008-2009 Building Objectives

Building Objective 1:                        Target Population: Grade 2 Total Student Population

By June 2009, a minimum of 90% of the total second grade student population (n=110) will demonstrate improvement in their reading ability as evidenced by their increased performance of 2 or more levels on the district’s reading assessment The Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA). This will be accomplished through sustained professional development, a focus on the diagnostic use of assessment and the implementation of a new research-based instructional reading program Good Habits Great Readers.

Achievement of Building Objective 1:

A review of the 2008-2009 Fall and Spring results of the Developmental Reading Assessment (DRA) in Grade 2 revealed that 99% of the total student population (n=103) demonstrated an increased performance of 2 or more reading levels which exceeded the anticipated achievement of 90% of the total population for this challenge objective.

Building Objective 2:                        Target Population:  Grade 5 Total Student Population

By June 2009, a minimum of 90% of the total fifth grade student population (n=110) will demonstrate improvement in their writing achievement as measured by increased performance of one or more levels as evidenced by pre and post testing using the district’s writing prompts scored with the New Jersey State Holistic Rubric.

Achievement of Building Objective 2:

A review of the 2009 results of the district’s writing prompts which were scored with the

New Jersey State Holistic Rubric revealed that 97% of the total fifth grade student population (n=104) demonstrated increased performance of one or more levels in their writing achievement which exceeded the anticipated achievement of 90% of the total population for this challenge objective.
